I am fasinated with color. Until recently I did not really understand the importance color play is
my over-all attitude in daily living. I have always been able to create a living space that reflect
my essence, but know I need to know why certain colors bring peace more than other colors.

I am a very earthy person. I must have red, green, deep blue, black surrounding me. I have really
no clue to why and that is why I am so interested in color therapy.
By the way, yellow is my least favorite color unless it is a golden yellow… hmmmm

Reiki is …
By: Seshmet

Reiki (ray- key) is a Japanese healing technique that was developed by Mikai Usui in 1922. Dr. Mikao Usui, is the founder of the Usui System of Reiki. He was born August 15, 1865 in the village of Yago in the Yamagata district of Gifu prefecture, Japan. Usui Sensei had an avid interest in learning and worked hard at his studies. As a sensitive spiritualist, Usui Sensei had previously spent much time meditating at power spots on Mt. Kurama on this mountain and retreat he developed the the ability to give healing to others without depleting his own energy.

It is the way of using the universal energy or life force to induce a healing reaction. To explain this little better there is energy within us and energy around us what the reiki practitioner does is a process of channeling that energy throughout their own body down their arms and out at the palms. The energy is passed on by laying on the hands on the client’s body in various places. All clients are clothed and aura healing (hands above the body) can be used too. The energy is absorbed into the client’s body which promotes healing. The energy flows can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body.

Reiki relieves pain, promotes natural self-healing, aids meditation, promote positive thinking, relaxes you, reduces stress, treats illnesses, strengthen immune system, balance the body, clears toxins, erase addictions, and can release blocked or suppressed feelings. It promotes health and is a good preventive technique. Reiki will enrich your life and give you happiness and health on all levels. Reiki is safe and does not harm anyone. (Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.)

Here is some examples Reiki can benefit or improve Anger, Anxiety, Arthritis, Asthma, Burns, Cuts, Cancer, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Energy blocks, Gastric, Heart ailments, Hemorrhoids, Hypersensitivity, Hypertension, Impotency, Insomnia, Intoxication, Leukemia, Menstrual, Migraine, Pains, Parkinson, Poor memory, Respiratory, Rheumatism, Skin disorders, Spinal injuries, Sports injuries, Stress, Tension, Ulcer, Vision and so much more.

Anyone can learn Reiki and it is easy to learn. Reiki practitioners are taught by Reiki Masters (ones that have completed all levels of reiki). There are 3 levels to reiki levels 1-3 possibly 4. Level 1 is the physical side of reiki here you learn how to heal yourself, plants, others and even pets (anything alive). You learn the hand positions, history of reiki and about universal energy. Will do lots of practice on hand positions and feeling the energy. Attunement is the ceremony initiation into being a reiki practitioner. It is a way of giving the student the access to the universal energy to use. All levels attunements are done on the Reiki student. If the student is ready then they go on to level 2. Reiki level 2 is the mental/emotional side of Reiki here you learn the Reiki 2 symbols the names, meanings and purpose. There are three Reiki symbols taught here and memorized. Here you learn how to use the symbols plus learn how to heal from a distance without being with the client or person in need of a healing. Level 3 is the Master level you learn 2 more symbols to memorize. This is the level of service so student should be dedicated to Reiki as a Master Teacher. To take this class you should know level 1-2 well, have given Reiki to other people and even done distance healing, too. You learn how to give attunements with this level. You learn the fundamentals to do a class on Reiki. Level 4 is optional it is a split up of Reiki 3 into another level that mainly its concern is how to be a teacher and how to set up a practice might be included.

What color Is Your Personality
with Carol Ritberger IE RAdio

Carol is one of the many fascinating guests that I have had on Independent Expression (IE) Radio! Join now to access all of the exciting programs available!

Every moment of every day, your interactions with family members, friends, associates, and even strangers are influenced by your personality. Through a detailed personality assessment, this one-of-a-kind work will help you determine what your personality color is (red, orange, yellow, or green) and show you how to use that information to maximize your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The Red Personality
Reds are the just-get-it-done people. They are aggressive, determined and action oriented. They do not just talk about getting things done. They take charge and get completion. They measure on the bottom-line and are detail oriented. Reds are not timid about letting you know where you stand with them. They thrive in competitive environments.

The Orange Personality
Oranges are friendly, personable, caring and considerate people who take pleasure in helping others. They are the people who say, “If you are happy, then I am happy.” Their social nature inspires them to bring people together for the purpose of sharing and enjoying each other’s company. Their idea of a good time is being involved in social activities where people can share good food and good conversation.

The Yellow Personality
Yellows are independent creative thinkers who use their intellect and their creative imagination to devise innovative ways of accomplishing tasks or improving on existing things. They love to solve problems. The more complex the problems the better they like them. They are natural leaders and are not hesitant to challenge status quo or authority.

The Green Personality
Greens have rich imaginations and thrive when using their creative abilities. They think in metaphors and analogies, painting vivid pictures in their minds. They love creating ideas and spending time brainstorming. They are happy people who can always see the good in every situation and in every person. Natural motivators, Greens encourage others to reach for the sky and to adopt the belief that anything can be accomplished if a person puts their mind to it and makes it fun.

Identify the color of your personality!

The Golden Rule
compiled by Matt Warne, (c) April 2008

“Every religion emphasizes human improvement, love, respect for others, sharing other people’s suffering. On these lines every religion had more or less the same viewpoint and the same goal.” — The Dalai Lama

The Golden Rule (aka The Ethic of Reciprocity) is a fundamental moral value which is expressed in one form or another in most of the world’s religions and faiths. Put simply, it means “treat others as you would like to be treated yourself”.

I first learned about the Golden Rule recently at a Science of Mind gathering. Science of Mind is a metaphysical/spiritual movement which embraces wisdom from all the world’s faiths and beliefs and is part of the New Thought movement.

It is clear that whilst we all share different ways and paths of finding our personal truths; we are all seeking the same universal truths, about life, love, tolerance and compassion.

Here I will share some of the teachings from the various major faiths…

Bahá’í Faith:
“Ascribe not to any soul that which thou wouldst not have ascribed to thee, and say not that which thou doest not.”
“Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself.” Baha’u'llah
“And if thine eyes be turned towards justice, choose thou for thy neighbour that which thou choosest for thyself.” Epistle to the Son of the Wolf

Brahmanism:
“This is the sum of Dharma [duty]: Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you”. Mahabharata, 5:1517 “

Buddhism:
“…a state that is not pleasing or delightful to me, how could I inflict that upon another?” Samyutta NIkaya v. 353
Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.” Udana-Varga 5:18

Christianity:
“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12, King James Version.
“And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Luke 6:31, King James Version.
“…and don’t do what you hate…”, Gospel of Thomas 6. The Gospel of Thomas is one of about 40 gospels that were widely accepted among early Christians, but which never made it into the Christian Scriptures (New Testament).

Confucianism:
“Do not do to others what you do not want them to do to you” Analects 15:23
“Tse-kung asked, ‘Is there one word that can serve as a principle of conduct for life?’ Confucius replied, ‘It is the word ‘shu’ — reciprocity. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.’” Doctrine of the Mean 13.3
“Try your best to treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself, and you will find that this is the shortest way to benevolence.” Mencius VII.A.4

Ancient Egyptian:
“Do for one who may do for you, that you may cause him thus to do.” The Tale of the Eloquent Peasant, 109 – 110 Translated by R.B. Parkinson. The original dates to 1970 to 1640 BCE and may be the earliest version ever written.

Hinduism:
“This is the sum of duty: do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you. ” Mahabharata 5:1517

Humanism:
“(5) Humanists acknowledge human interdependence, the need for mutual respect and the kinship of all humanity.”
“(11) Humanists affirm that individual and social problems can only be resolved by means of human reason, intelligent effort, critical thinking joined with compassion and a spirit of empathy for all living beings. “
“Don’t do things you wouldn’t want to have done to you”

Islam:
“None of you [truly] believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.” Number 13 of Imam “Al-Nawawi’s Forty Hadiths.”

Jainism:
“A man should wander about treating all creatures as he himself would be treated. “Sutrakritanga 1.11.33

Judaism:
“…thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”, Leviticus 19:18
“What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. This is the law: all the rest is commentary.” Talmud, Shabbat 31a.
“And what you hate, do not do to any one.” Tobit 4:15

Native American Spirituality:
“Respect for all life is the foundation.” The Great Law of Peace.
“All things are our relatives; what we do to everything, we do to ourselves. All is really One.” Black Elk

Sufism:
“The basis of Sufism is consideration of the hearts and feelings of others. If you haven’t the will to gladden someone’s heart, then at least beware lest you hurt someone’s heart, for on our path, no sin exists but this.” Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh, Master of the Nimatullahi Sufi Order.

Taoism:
“Regard your neighbor’s gain as your own gain, and your neighbor’s loss as your own loss.” T’ai Shang Kan Ying P’ien.
“The sage has no interest of his own, but takes the interests of the people as his own. He is kind to the kind; he is also kind to the unkind: for Virtue is kind.

Chakra (derived from the Sanskrit cakra? ?????, pronounced ['t??kr?] Pali: chakka, Tibetan: khorlo, Malay: cakera) is a Sanskrit word that translates as wheel or disc or turning.

Chakra is a concept referring to wheel-like vortices which, according to traditional Indian medicine, are believed to exist in the surface of the etheric double of man.[1] The Chakras are said to be “force centers” or whorls of energy permeating, from a point on the physical body, the layers of the subtle bodies in an ever-increasing fan-shaped formation (the fans make the shape of a love heart). Rotating vortices of subtle matter, they are considered the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies.[2] Seven major chakras or energy centers (also understood as wheels of light) are generally believed to exist, located within the subtle body. Practitioners of Hinduism and New Age Spirituality believe the chakras interact with the body’s ductless endocrine glands and lymphatic system by feeding in good bio-energies and disposing of unwanted bio-energies.[3]

It is typical for chakras to be depicted in two ways:

1. flower-like
2. wheel-like
In 1. a specific number of petals are shown around the perimeter of a circle,

In 2. a certain number of spokes divide the circle into segments that make the chakra resemble a wheel or “chakra.” Each chakra possesses a specific number of segments or “petals.”

Much of the original information on Chakras comes from the “Upanishads”, which are difficult to date because they are believed to have been passed down orally for approximately a thousand years before being written down for the first time between 1200–900 BCE.

The Upanishads (Devanagari: ???????, IAST: upani?ad, also spelled “Upanisad”) are Hindu scriptures that constitute the core teachings of Vedanta.[1] They do not belong to any particular period of Sanskrit literature: the oldest, such as the Brhadaranyaka and Chandogya Upanishads, date to the late Brahmana period (around the middle of the first millennium BCE), while the latest were composed in the medieval and early modern period. The Upanishads have exerted an important influence on the rest of Hindu Philosophy, and were collectively considered one of the 100 Most Influential Books Ever Written by the British poet Martin Seymour-Smith.

The philosopher and commentator Shankara is thought to have composed commentaries on eleven mukhya or principal Upanishads, those that are generally regarded as the oldest, spanning the late Vedic and Mauryan periods. The Muktika Upanishad (predates 1656) contains a list of 108 canonical Upanishads[2] and lists itself as the final one. Although there are a wide variety of philosophical positions propounded in the Upanishads, commentators since Shankara have usually followed him in seeing idealist monism as the dominant one.[3][4][5][6][7]

Dara Shikoh (d. 1659), son of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, translated fifty Upanishads into Persian. Max Müller (1879) was aware of 170. Sadhale, in his massive verse index Upani?ad-vakya-maha-kosa, has drawn on 223 different extant texts that call themselves by this name.[8] Additionally, parts of earlier texts, of Brahmanas or passages of the Vedas themselves, are sometimes considered Upanishads.

Success Starts with a Can Do Attitude: Three Secrets to Creating More Success

Self Improvement article written by Ed Sykes on Oct 07, 2006 – 12:00 AM

Learn how your positive can do attitude can help you achieve more success in life.

If you believe you can, you probably can. If you believe you
won’t, you most assuredly won’t. Belief is the ignition switch
that gets you off the launching pad.
-Denis Waitley

Recently, I was watching a women’s professional tennis
match on TV. One of the players, Nadia Petrova, was having
a spectacular tennis season, either winning or playing for the
championship in several tournaments in recent months.

The TV interviewer interviewed Nadia’s new coach and
mentioned that Nadia, who was rated in the top twenty
players in past years, was fast becoming one of the top five
players in the world. The interviewer asked Nadia’s coach
about this, and the coach said, “In the past, Nadia had
people around her that concentrated on what she ‘can’t do.’
So Nadia would concentrate on what she couldn’t do,
especially in challenging situations on the court, and it
would frustrate her. I am concentrating on what she ‘can
do,’ and she is a much better, confident player and is
mentally much happier.”

So I ask you, do you concentrate on the “can’t dos” or the
“can dos?” The following are three secrets to creating a
“can do” attitude that produces positive results and more
success in your life, business, and career:

1. Set Can Do Goals
Set goals that move you toward successful results. People
fail because they don’t know what they want or what they
don’t want. Ask a friend, family member, or associate what
they want in life. In most cases, they will pause and really
think about what they want. Sometimes they can’t come up
with an answer. Sometimes they may come up with a weak
response. However, ask the following question, “What
don’t you want in life?” and, in most situations, you will
receive multiple, clear, and quick answers to your question.
That’s because we concentrate on what we don’t want to
happen instead of what we want to happen. In life, as in
sports, we concentrate on “not losing” instead of
concentrating how to “win.”

Set S-M-A-R-T-E-R (Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Realistic, Timely, Encouraging, Rewarding) goals that create
a crystal clear roadmap for your success, and work to
achieve these goals everyday.

2. Take Care of Your N-E-T-S
N-E-T-S stands for Network with Everyone Today for
Success. Fill your NETS with positive people that will
support your positive “can do” attitude. These people,
while supporting your goals, will also help you pass
roadblocks to achieve your goals. You will also make your
NETS stronger by supporting their goals to create a mutually
supportive situation.

Joy Fisher-Sykes always says, “Clean your NETS of people
who have a “can’t do,” negative attitude, and who don’t
support your quest to achieve your goals.” The more junk
(negative people) in your NETS, the less room you have for
more treasure (positive people). Take a close look at
“friends,” family and co-workers and ask, “Do they support
me and my “can do” attitude?” If they don’t, remove them
from your NET. Keep your NET strong with positive people.

3. Concentrate on the Positive
Recent research shows that 75-80% of daily communication
is negative. This would include negative self-talk,
conversations with others, or the media (TV, radio, the
internet, etc.).

Take back control of your mind and be responsible for your
“can do” attitude. You can start with the following:

a. Concentrate on self-talk with positive solutions
Start your mornings with meditation. Concentrate on
positive thoughts with positive results. Visualize, involving
as many senses as possible, to intensify the visualization
and make it real for you. Ask, “What does your success feel,
look, sound, and taste like?” Be aware of negative self-talk,
and replace it with positive self-talk.

b. Control the Communication
If it is a conversation, reframe the negative conversation into
a more positive conversation. If someone is complaining
endlessly, say, “Mike, I hear what you are saying. What
solutions to you see to this problem?”

If the media is negative, tune it out or turn it off.

You can always walk away. You have that right.

c. Walk the Talk
Be consistent in your behavior, and act on your “can do”
attitude.

d. Fake It Till You Make It
Act like you are already achieving your goals, and you will
rise to a higher level. Others will also see you as achieving
your goals and interact with you accordingly.

Follow these “can do” techniques and you will also achieve
more success in your life. I know Nadia does. As of this
writing, she has won two additional tournaments, with no
end in sight. She has a “can do” attitude that creates
success, and you can, too.

Maintaining mind, body and spirit on a daily basis through mainstream or alternative self
help tools and techniques can help a great deal during down times.

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, “I used everything you gave me.”"

What is a Self Help tool?

For me, a self help tool is a skill or technique one can draw on whenever needed, or to maintain mind, body and spirit in a more balanced way.

Maybe confidence needs boosting, or self esteem could be raised a notch or two. There are many self help tools and techniques available which can help release tension, clear the mind, increase awareness, improve personal strategies and pave the way for a brighter and more purposeful future.

Most days will find me use a little self help to enable me to cope better with daily challenges. Maybe I’ll use an aromatherapy recipe to help me focus on my writing, have a meditation session to clear my mind, or I might do a little self coaching and self-appraisal if I’m stuck on something. These are but a few of the self help tools I use.

Self help for maintaining mind, body and spirit is similar to practising motivation daily. By utilising self help tools and knowledge on a daily basis, it can provide individuals with improved coping skills during ‘the down times’.

There are many self help tools to choose from and you can find them in self help books (paperback and electronic), personal or spiritual development courses, CDs, magazines, self help and self improvement websites, and through coaching programs.

With any self help tool or technique, your rate of return will always equal your rate of effort.

10 simple self help tips you can apply easily:

** Where will you be in 10, 20, or 30 years from now? Spend some time writing down your life goals.

** A high expectation can also bring with it a high level of disappointment. By lowering your expectations of other people, you’ll be less disappointed.

** Live in the present moment. The present moment is when you’re ‘in the zone’.

** Trying to change others to how we want them to be is pointless – the only thing you can successfully change is you.

** Listen for and eliminate negative self talk. Counter the negative talk with a positive response, each and every time.

** Connect with others. You could become a volunteer, join a community, sporting or personal interest group, and learn to meditate. By connecting with others it’s possible to establish valuable life long friendships.

** Expand your knowledge base, read magazines and books you normally wouldn’t, or watch documentaries. Enrol in further studies and adopt the attitude learning is easy, learning is fun.

** If you have self help books – read them again, if the books contain exercises for you to complete – spend some time working through them. It’s all about taking action and changing the I shoulds to I will.

** With the help of a personal trainer, work out (pardon the pun) a suitable exercise program, better still, make it a new lifestyle program.

** Connect with your spiritual self and get to know yourself.

** Whilst these are only a few of the self help options available, the possibilities are endless, including both mainstream and alternative. Whichever you choose they are all self help tools which help you maintain mind, body and spirit in a more balanced way.

There is a misconception about the word purpose. What they are really missing out on in their life is conviction.

At this time it has been a week since I introduced a shortened version of my seminar “Dare Yourself” to a Toastmasters group in a local correction center. I co-facilitate the group with another Toastmasters member. We meet in a room provided by the State operated facility for men that are incarcerated for minor crimes. They could be there anywhere from 1 month to 5 years.

In the middle of my presentation one of the inmates asked me this question, “What is my purpose and how would I know it when I do it”. It was a very profound question in which many of us seemed to be lost in the state of confusion. Keep in mind that these men ended up there because of poor choices they had made along the way of their journey; poor choices without knowing any different.

I pondered for awhile before I answered that gentleman’s question. Here is what came through as I was in Spirit (inspired). People have purpose and conviction mixed up.

When you were born into this life, that was your purpose. There isn’t going to be a lightening bolt come down from the sky and say with a deep voice “John, or Jane, this is what your purpose is supposed to be”. From the time you were born everything you did or do is on purpose.

For example, you eat on purpose to stay alive. You exercise on purpose to stay healthy. You put gas in your car on purpose to get from point A to point B.

There is a misconception about the word purpose. What they are really missing out on in their life is conviction. I tried to help him understand by explaining it this way; when you do something on purpose, it is followed by a result. Conviction is where you take charge of the choices and follow through with your heart. This shows your passion which equals a result—-therefore your purpose. Purpose is nothing more than the true result of your conviction.
